    Coffee with the CEO

The week at the studio was filled with fun work for our clients, talking to a few new peeps that we hope will become clients, and meeting for coffee with some cool people. If we didn’t meet last week, hit me up and let’s get together. I’d love to hear what’s going on in your life. And be sure to tweet me here and let me know how things are going. It’s so much fun to hear from you on Twitter.

After reading through our newsletter, be sure to check out the photo at the bottom from our Where has JASE taken you? series. If you have a Where has JASE taken you? photo, shoot me an email with the photo and we’ll feature it to our readers. Need a JASE card or koozie? I can send that to you too.

    Where has JASE taken you?

  • Wow. I’m still reeling from last week’s excitement. Several fun people stopped by the studio to visit last week and we also received commitments from three new clients. Speaking of, one of our friends in the community sent us a fun Where has JASE taken you? photo they took while in Chicago. Check it out at the bottom of this message.

If you didn’t have time to stop by for coffee or tea last week, be sure to tweet me here and let me know how things are going. It’s so much fun to hear from you on Twitter.

    • Saturday = Rain. My plans for yard work got shot down by Mother Nature. So after catching up on my DVR, Nicole and I decided to visit a few friends around Ghent. We first visited Russ at Dirty Buffalo for lunch where I had the best wings in town. Later we scooted over to visit Jennifer at Mermaid Winery. Mmmm. And then much later we had dinner at Chow. I had a fun day with my best friend.

    Sunday, April 26th

    • Sunday was a lazy day for us. The rain continued through the morning so my grass is still out-of-control! But we did make a visit to Costco for this week’s groceries and a 30-minute long wait in line for cheap gas.

I hope you have a great week. And be sure to stop in for coffee or tea soon at the studio (click here for directions). Don’t forget about our referral system. • Several people asked me last week about our weekly recap newsletters. Why talk personal? Why talk business? Why mix them in the same conversation? If you know me on any level, you know that JASE is my life and my life is JASE. For starters, the company name “JASE” comes from my two daughters’ initials, hence the all caps. Second, our personal lives are intimately intertwined with company business. No matter how large we have grown over the years (since 1997), JASE will always be a family business that cares about our clients and welcomes them as part of our family.

So there you go. That’s the reason we talk our complete world in the same conversation. It’s all the same–and it’s all good. Speaking of . . . have you stopped by the Studio for coffee or tea lately? We’re here all week so stop by. Let’s talk. If you can’t make it this week, be sure to tweet me here and let me know how things are going. I’m having a blast hearing from many of you.

    Monday, April 13th

    • Sometimes I feel like I preach this too much. But then questions come up and I feel like I don’t preach it enough. Content marketing is today’s SEO. I need to trademark that statement. Cameron worked a while on Monday on quality content marketing for several clients, including Gordy EyeCare of Phenix City, AL and also Janney Insurance Agency of Yorktown & Chesapeake, VA. A successful business on the Internet cannot have enough solid content on their blog, Facebook page, Twitter timeline, LinkedIn Company page, etc.
    • The creative team worked through several new design comps for our Restaurant Marketing System. Good stuff. Man, really nice designs. Our kids rock!
    • I followed up with my doctor on Monday afternoon checking blood pressure, sugar levels, cholesterol and all that cool stuff that’s going to keep me around for a while. I’ve promised my family that I’ll be here until at least 94 years old. And I intend to make good on that promise. When was the last time you had a thorough checkup?
    • We delivered drafts of exterior door signage art to Karla at Hampton Mental Health Associates in Hampton, VA. Walt has done a really nice job with this overall brand makeover for the company.
    • Our tech team continued working on two new apps for Todd at Williamsburg Coffee & Tea in Williamsburg, VA. I know that I brag on our creative team a lot, but our software engineers and data team are dynamite. Led by David, these guys are good!

    Tuesday, April 14th

    • I had to make another phone call to the billing department at Cox Business Services on Tuesday morning. These guys. I’m not sure about these guys. First they tried to bill us for a service call when their equipment failed outside of our building. Then they forgot to refund the charges. So I had to call them again to ask them to post the credit. Where is the competition? I detest that there is a monopoly in our area for this tech service for small business. Okay, I’m off my soapbox now. :)
    • Cameron and I met with Laura and Jocelyn of MyBizPPL at The Studio to discuss partnerships that would benefit both of our companies. These are some cool ladies with fabulous, creative ideas for the Hampton Roads small business market. Let me know if you need an introduction. I’ll be more than happy to set that up.
    • The creative team delivered design comps to Russ at Dirty Buffalo in Norfolk, VA. These bad boys are awesome. I can’t wait to see this new website live on the Internet. Their customer base is going to be ecstatic.
    • Big news! We received an signed Agreement from La Bella in Ghent in Norfolk, VA. We are now their official Creative Advertising Agency of Record. Nicole and I have been a big fan of Andrea’s cooking for many years, and now we get the privilege of working with them. Fun.
    • We had a Board of Managers meeting for the Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk on Tuesday evening. The Board met at The Reynolds’ beautiful home in West Ghent where we were served filet mignon and also desserts from Chocollage Bakery in Downtown Norfolk. With such a delicious dinner, I almost forgot that we were there to fight diabetes together. :)

    Wednesday, April 15th

    • I met with Mark and Tom of FitBox365 early Tuesday morning at Panera Bread in Chesapeake, VA to discuss branding and marketing strategies for the new venture. We are very excited to be working with this talented, experienced and intelligent team.
    • We published a new social article, 5 Microsoft Excel Features You May Not Know About (http://jasegroup.com/blog/?5-microsoft-excel-features-you-may-not-know-about) on Wednesday. I sent the link out to a few of my bean-counter (and oh-so-freakin-smart)  friends, but I’m sure they thought me juvenile since I’m sure they already knew about these features. :)
    • Cameron and I had a wonderful conversation at The Studio with Deany of Executive Events in Norfolk, VA. The discovery session was perfect timing since we will be working a few joint projects. She is a very passionate and driven businesswoman and it was a pleasure to share the time with her.
    • Most of you know that Nicole is an accountant, specifically she is a Manager in the Retirement Plan Services division at McPhillips, Roberts & Deans PLC in Norfolk, VA. To celebrate tax day, I met her and our friend Christie after work at Press 626 for wine and appetizers. We had so much fun at this cool little spot in Ghent.

    Thursday, April 16th

    • We published another social article, Office 365 Supports Up To 150 MB Email Attachments (http://jasegroup.com/blog/?office-365-supports-up-to-150-mb-email-attachments) on Thursday from the tech team. If you aren’t already subscribed with your RSS reader, make sure you don’t miss these announcements on our blog.
    • Our PR Team published the press release to the media announcing our new La Bella in Ghent partnership. We received several replies and correspondences from the media push. Love it. Our public relations team is tops!
    • Denise worked through several design comps for upcoming May ads for Nathan & Maurice at Nathan’s Lynnhaven Pawn Shop in Virginia Beach. Her work with Cameron each month is amazing. I anxiously look forward to seeing their new ideas when they hit my desk.

    Friday, April 17th

    • To follow-up on the press release publication on Thursday, we published a similar social article, We Are Excited That La Bella in Ghent Signed With JASE Group as Their Advertising Agency of Record (http://jasegroup.com/blog/?we-are-excited-that-la-bella-in-ghent-signed-with-jase-group-as-their-advertising-agency-of-record), to that audience. Thank you everyone for reading our social activities on the Internet. I’m astounded at how many loyal followers we have and how many of you actively engage with us on and offline.
    • It’s Friday, right? Friday means fun-day. Kevin of Coelacanth Brewing and I went to La Bella in Ghent for lunch after he gave me a tour of the new Coelacanth brewery facility in Ghent. I can’t wait to taste his new brews when they go into production around August.
    • The marketing team worked through several of our pay-per-click accounts for Nathan’s Lynnhaven Pawn Shop, Janney Insurance Agency, and Dragas Companies. Weekly maintenance and upgrades are vital to their successes.

    Saturday, April 18th

    • Nicole, Cassidy and I made off to South County High School in Lorton, VA on Saturday morning. We were there to cheer on Delaney’s Gildersleeve Middle School of Newport News, VA Odyssey of The Mind team competing in the State Competition. They did so well representing their region after winning the Regional Competition a few weeks ago.

    Sunday, April 19th

    • Proud Uncle here (pointing at my chest). Nicole and I joined the rest of our family at City Life Church in Williamsburg, VA to celebrate Cassidy’s public profession of faith and baptism. I am so very proud of this young lady and all she has accomplished personally.
    • Our family had lunch Sunday afternoon at 2nd Street Cafe in Williamsburg. The best part of that–we got some quality Poppie & GCole time with Jeri. Being a grandparent is the most grounding and special feeling a person can enjoy. I think I have found my calling in life. :)

Our JASE Restaurants Marketing System is booming. If you’re a restaurant owner and want to know more, head over to the landing page. Or if you want to make a little money on the side, do like Matt did and refer your favorite restaurant. When they sign up, you make cash. Sweet deal.

I hope you guys have a great rest of this week. Stop in for coffee or tea at The Studio (click here for directions). I’m available any time.

Keep your chin up, your eyes bright, and your ears open–you never know when a juicy bit of knowledge will come flying at you.

    Your friend in Christ,
    kp.

    Keith Parnell

  • Happy Monday, friends. I hope your weekend was eventful and enjoyable. Mine? March Madness! :) What an exciting time of the year for a sports fan. I’d love to hear what you did over the weekend–tweet me here and let me know.

    Monday, March 16th

    • Cameron worked on content marketing a bit on Monday for a couple of fun clients: Janney Insurance Agency of Yorktown & Chesapeake and Gordy EyeCare of Phenix City, AL. You know by now this world we live in. Content marketing, generating awesome content, is today’s SEO. Yep, it’s that important to Google and Bing.
    • Cameron also visited our partners at Fleet Printing to approve a 6×9 postcard proof for our new JASE Restaurant initiative. We should be getting the postcards in this week. Exciting.
    • Denise and Cameron continued work on April ad concepts for Nathan Segal of Nathan’s Lynnhaven Pawn Shop in Virginia Beach. I can’t wait to see the new designs.
    • I was out of the office all day on Monday. Nicole’s Nanny is having serious health issues. We visited her down in Rocky Mount, NC so we could spend some personal time with her. Thank you again for all of your prayers and kind words.

    Tuesday, March 17th

    • Russ Gilbert from The Dirty Buffalo in Norfolk stopped by the Studio to talk details of our new partnership. He and Stephanie are a fun couple, not to mention their special-sauce buffalo wings are dynamite.
    • Nicole and I spent the late afternoon and early evening celebrating St. Paddy’s Day with our favorite bar-keep, Holly Rogers, at A.W. Shucks. Shucks, right here in Ghent, is a highly recommended spot for the best seafood in town. John Boggs has a hit on his hands with this joint.

    Wednesday, March 18th

    • Cameron went to the Ghent Business Association’s morning schmooze social event at the new YMCA on Granby Street in Norfolk. It’s always fun hangin’ out and sharing experiences with our local business friends.
    • Cameron had a busy week while I was a bit out of the loop. He met with Jennifer Eichert of Mermaid Winery and reported back how fun she is to chat with on local advertising and business strategies.

    Thursday, March 19th

    • Our development team continued working with Mark Parnell of Mark Pressed4Time fame in Hampton. We have run several recent email campaigns for them that were very, very successful and continue to architect several other ideas that will certainly be as fruitful. It’s great working with a client that trusts our creative advice and then have initiatives that generate a huge return for them.
    • Wo! Have you checked out the updated version of our JASE corporate logo? I’ve tacked it onto this social message below, but be sure to check it out on our website. It looks amazing.
    • I took Cameron as my guest to our Cosmopolitan Club of Norfolk’s luncheon at the Norfolk Yacht & Country Club. Fighting diabetes with this fun group of people is a passion that I enjoy satisfying.
    • Cameron and I took off the afternoon and met friends Brian and Tom at Cogan’s North in Norfolk. Why, you ask? I’ll tell you why–March Madness! We spent the afternoon yelling at the big screens with many others enjoying college basketball. Fun.

    Friday, March 20th

    • Our creative team met for a bit a Friday to discuss a few ideas and challenges presented to us by our client, Janney Insurance Agency. More on this upcoming project later.
    • The marketing team ran through pay-per-click maintenance steps for clients Nathan’s Lynnhaven Pawn Shop, Janney Insurance Agency, and Dragas Companies in Virginia Beach. The complexity of running successful PPC campaigns is something that I’m proud to see say our team has mastered. It’s fun to watch success for our clients in action.
    • The development team worked on a couple of different ad campaigns for Dragas Companies creating supporting landing pages for marketing success measuring. The keyword there is success.
    • Cameron led creative discussions on Friday afternoon for an upcoming website redesign for our client First Choice Nurses of Virginia Beach and Richmond. This is going to be another very fun project working with Peyton Lex and his team.
    • Nicole and I had dinner with our friends Jon and Christie at La Bella in Ghent. I love supporting local, especially for cool friends like restaurant owners Chef Andrea and Marti Dicarlo.

I hope you guys have a great rest of the week. Keep your chin up, your eyes bright, and your ears open–you never know when a juicy bit of knowledge will come flying at you. Stop in for coffee at the studio. I’m available any time and at your service.

    Your friend in Christ,
    kp.

  • Does your advertising message fit your brand? And more importantly, does your advertising message fit your target audience? Cool things and cool people as our spokesperson will come and go. So will our money if we spend bad money on bad advertising–advertising that’s not meant for our sponges.

    How Original Are Your Ads?

JASE Creative - - No Comments.

We recently pitched a new ad campaign to one of our clients.  Long story short, their comments were complimenting and their reaction was full of excitement.  Original and catchy were two adjectives used to describe the new concept, which is what you always want to hear as an ad agency.  How original are your ads?  Are you just doing what your competitors are doing?

  • ATT TV commercialThe AT&T “It’s Not Complicated” TV advertising campaign has captured the attention of TV audiences since its initial release in November 2012.

In living rooms and offices across the country people continue to talk about the ads, which feature various groups of energetic, smart and extremely adorable children of different ages and a very straight-forward adult interviewer.

The campaign was created to focus on AT&T’s features and services by asking simple questions to the children. Here are examples of some of the questions:

Which is better, doing two things at once or just the one?

    What’s better, faster or slower?

    What’s better, bigger or smaller?

Who thinks more is better than less?

The children’s responses are hilarious! Their answers include everything from chants of “we want more, we want more,” math problems multiplying infinity, and my personal favorite, a grandma with a cheetah taped to her back.  The ads quickly remind you that viewers love that “kids say the darndest things.”

It’s clear that the advertising campaign was successful. Between the period of December 27- January 2, AT&T was the most Tweeted-brand with 11,600 tweets. The advertising campaign continues to garner the attention of viewers, all based on mostly unscripted conversations with kids.

  • I wrote an article a couple of weeks ago equating your landing page to Major League Baseball’s closing pitcher position. Well a recent study published from Marketing Sherpa shows that of nearly 3,000 polled marketers, 92% felt that a dedicated landing page is at least somewhat effective.

WHAT IS A DEDICATED LANDING PAGE?

A dedicated landing page is a page on your website created specifically for an ad campaign or other targeted medium. The landing page could be linked to from your blog, a social community, or any inbound marketing or outbound marketing initiative that you may be running.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY SMALL BUSINESS WEBSITE?

If you’re a small business and you only direct your viewers to the same landing page or just your home page, there’s a pretty good chance you are not capitalizing on your entire lead generation capability. And you are definitely cutting off the ability to measure the success of your ad campaign.

When an organization is running variety of advertising media, you should create a landing page dedicated to that particular channel. The content of the landing page should best relate to the viewer at the time and should clearly define their next course of action without making the viewer have to question whether or not they are in the right place or looking at the right information.

  • Want to get on board with the hottest new creative ad strategy? QR codes are one of the newest methods of reaching a target audience. But in order for your inbound marketing campaign to be effective there are certain proven methods that will make you more effective.

According to information published by emarketer.com the number one placement of QR codes is on print media. QR Codes on product labels lead the way with 56% of placement; magazines and coupons round out the top 3 most used ad mediums.

    Mobile Barcode Placement

Poor strategic placement of QR codes could lead to insufficient lead generation methods. For more information on QR code placement and how they can help your business, contact our Inbound Marketing team today.
